The largest sources are United States (203), Sweden (50), Germany (48), Russia (27). Also indexed: Cops, Deal or No Deal, Duck Dynasty, HauntTV, Andromeda, Anger Management Channel, Baywatch, Unsolved Mysteries.

Series is the most geographically concentrated of the large categories here, drawn from far fewer countries than any other genre of comparable size, with the United States accounting for roughly half of it. That concentration is the category's defining fact and it follows from cost. Scripted and formatted television is expensive to make and its rights are held tightly for as long as they retain value, so very little of it reaches a free channel while it is still worth something.

What does reach these channels is catalogue. Finished American reality and factual formats whose first-run value is long spent, older procedurals and courtroom strands, talk shows, docusoaps and the deep back-catalogue of unscripted formats that ran for many seasons and are therefore cheap to run continuously. A channel built from one long-running show is a common pattern here, because a single title with hundreds of episodes fills a schedule indefinitely without any further licensing.

Playability in this category is high, well above the site average, which is worth understanding because it appears to contradict what licensing does elsewhere. The reason is that these channels are overwhelmingly run by free ad-supported streaming operators whose entire revenue depends on being watched. They have already cleared the rights for open digital distribution, and having done so they want the widest possible reach. Where a film channel restricts to protect a territorial sale, a series channel of this kind has no such sale to protect.

Germany and Sweden both appear well above their weight, which is the same Nordic and German FAST cluster visible in entertainment, and the same caution applies: the country of registration frequently is not the country of origin of the programming.
